Sonia is an expert in public international law and corporate social responsibility. Her current focus is supporting the global tin mining industry and supply chains in progressive improvement in sustainability and ESG practices, including through legal & standards compliance and stakeholder engagement. She is interested in working with stakeholders on practical approaches that support socially and environmentally responsible sourcing and sustainable development across all tin producing regions in Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and Oceania with a specific focus on effective risk management from conflict-affected and high-risk areas. She has previously worked for the private and not-for-profit sectors in a variety of capacities including legal and project management within the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Finland.
Sonia holds a First Class LL.B (Hons) Law Degree and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Global Environment and Climate Change Law from the University of Edinburgh. She is fluent in English and Finnish language and is working on her French, Spanish and Swedish.
