Mike Bailey is the Senior Advisor for AI at J-PAL at MIT and manages Project AI Evidence (PAIE) to identify, evaluate, and scale innovative applications of AI for social good and for reducing global poverty. Mike previously founded the Social Capital Lab at Meta, a scientific research group that partners with academics and policy groups to advance public understanding of social connection and its impact on people and society. The Social Capital Lab has created widely used tools for understanding social networks including the Social Connectedness Index, the Social Capital Atlas, and the Global Migration Flows Dataset and his work on social connection has received widespread press coverage and has been published in several leading scientific journals including Nature and PNAS. Mike holds a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford.
